Emergency Mode and stuck in one gear

ML320 - Can you please help and advice on what I should do.Thanks. I was just driving when i noticed that the gear was not changing as it should and the car starts to slow down. I am not sure what the problem is. Please help. Thanks.

Scan the transmission control module for codes and check the shift linkage and that the shift modulator on the trans. is getting vacuum.
