1999 Mercedes Benz E200 Over Last Days Noticed That Car Fails Engage Reverse

Over the last few days, I have noticed that my car fails to engage the reverse gear at times. When this happens, I normally puts the engage the neutral gear followed by reverse and it works fine. What could be the problem?

Its usually the other way around you go to drive then reverse,any way this is the valve body of the transmission,
