my car is making a strange ticking sound from around the gear box and as i was braking it gave a clank sound with a slight pull back what could the problem be?

is that sound only there whenthe vehicle is moving? (or is it there even when the vehicle is idling in park?

I sort of sounds like it coul be iin the driveshaft mount where it bolts to the transmission, but I need a little more info to narrow it down. Meanwhile checkthe transmission fluid just to eliminate that possibility.
