I have a 1999 mazda protege and I am changing the battery, but i'm not sure what cable is the positive terminal. I already removed the battery and now can't remember how to orient the new battery. :( Is the positive post on the battery supposed to be close to the grill or close to the windshield. Please help.

Thanks

The positive post and cable are larger in diameter. The cable is usually red, at least on domestic cars. Some imports use black to confuse the issue. The negative cable will be black and the larger wire will go to the engine block and be bolted on there. A smaller diameter cable will be bolted to the body sheet metal. There's a minus and plus sign on the battery by each post.
