My transmission went out and my car could not drive faster than 20 miles per hour. I replaced the transmission with a used one. My car can drive faster now and the gears change without any problem but now it sounds like a truck. It also does not idle very smoothly. What could be causing these problems? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Check the fluid and make sure that it is at level and looks clean. Hopefully that is it. If not you may have an internal synchro or torque converter problem.
