WHY WOULD THE EXHAUST SYSTEM GET BEAT RED WHEN RUNNING? what could be causing this?

A misfiring cylinder would cause that. When misfiring occurs, excessive fuel is being discharged to the catalytic coverter and this would result in it glowing red hot.

Check the spark plugs and related components.
