I drove to town the other day. The car started over heating. When I got home checked it and needed water. The next day drove to town for 15 min came back water was gone again. So left it running and added the water it had no problems. Checked the hose no problem there. So when it sits its not over heating and the water is just fine its not boiling over. Why is it sucking all the water like that. Checked the fans and they come on just fine.

Suspect a leaking cylinder head gasket. If no external leaks can be found, add a small bottle of dark purple dye to the coolant, then search a day later with a black light. The dye will show up as a bright yellow stain that you can follow back to the source. If the head gasket is leaking, you'll see the dye inside the tail pipe. Auto parts stores have the dye, and those that rent or borrow tools should have the black light.
