Based on a slow or no crank, he sounds correct. Remove the battery and fully charge it. Then, take it to a parts store and have them load test it. Most will do this for free. That will let you know if the battery is good or not.
If the battery checks good, then you should remove the starter and take it to the same parts store and have them bench test it. If it checks good, then I question if there is something causing a hydrostatic lock in the engine. By that, I mean coolant could be getting into one of the cylinders and preventing the engine from turning. Do me a favor. Before you do any of the above listed things, check the engine oil level. See if it is over full or if it looks contaminated with coolant.
