I would not think so, if it was only a few small pieces I would not be overly concerned, maybe a fuel filter change will certainly not hurt.

The more that goes in the more chance of a problem, so if it is a fair amount like you say, then a flush will be a good idea, change the filter and run a fuel system cleaner as well, best to be safe than sorry.
