The oil pressure gauge drops to zero from normal when I am not pressing the gas. The pressure returns to about 20 when I am pressing the gas. So far this happens after the engine is warm. The gauge reads normal until then. What could this be? Safe to drive

Here's what I recommend, find you a "Nice/ Pretty Mechanical Gauge that if you "wanted to"--you could mount it under your dash permanently ($20 or so at auto parts store)

A mechanical gauge is more accurate than an electric one----See if it reacts like the other one

But as for now----for testing purposes, take out the sending unit--screw the fitting in----without crimping or kinking it, Bring it out of your hood and in thru the window. Lay it on the dash or in the seat

Now you can Observe it while you drive---If all is good! (BIG TIME PEACE OF MIND!)

Then It's the darn sender or the gauge in your dash. Fix them. Most of the time, it's a bad sender

--OR-- since this gauge is nice and pretty, bring the test gauge tube thru the fire-wall and mount it permanently (I have mine inside rubber fuel line to protect it)---If you don't like or trust the original
