1999 Jeep Cherokee Fuel pump fuse

There is a 15 amp fuse in the fuse holder in the engine compartment. Just about every time I put the car in reverse, it blows this fuse. This is a 6 cylinder with automatic transmission.Once this fuse blows, the gas guage does not register, and no fuel reaches the engine.This does not blow if put in a forward gear. Thanks

What is the fuse location number or name to identify the circuit?

there are no numbers or names in the box. there are three rows of mini-fuses in the box. the first 2 have 4 fuses, the third row has 3. This fuse is in the first row, second fuse in from the fender side.

This is not the main fuse panel in the passenger compartment, it is referred to as the " Electrical Power Distribution Center" located on the passenger side of the engine compartment.

It looks like all it supplies is the fuel pump itself, through the fuel pump relay. Being that putting the truck in reverse is what triggers it, it has to be a bare wire somewhere that is making contact with ground when the engine twists. Look it over real closely to try to find that spot. The wire that you are looking at is Dk Grn with white. http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa448/Wrenchtech/78430921.gif
