power dies and will not restart ?

There is some kind of electrical problem. The car has a fully charged battery but will only run with a jump. Once you turn off the ignition the complete power dies and will not restart. I had the alternator checked and it is not defected. Can you explain what could be the problem.

power is not being fed to the ignition switch.use a meter or test light to follow the power from the battery on the battery cable to the fuse panel to the ignition switch to the starter
