I have an automatic nothing slipping. I was driving down the road. Hear a loud clunk. Then I keep driving. Hasn't done again. Do I need to get differential oil checked. Had it checked a year ago.
Would low fluid cause this to happen. It drives and shifts fine. Will this happen again. I have to drive 300 miles home.

Have the differential fluid checked and while they are at it, have them check the transmission and diferential mounts along with the drive shaft and U-joints.

Call around town to see if there is a shop that will inspect the drivetrain for FREE. If so, have them to inspect it for you, but don't purchase any parts or services until you post the results here so that I can provide more info/assistnace if needed. Hopefully this will save you time, money and frustration.

Thanks and good luck.
