Car smoking and stopped but started 30 minutes later

I have a 1999 crv and car just stopped while driving down highway. There was some smoke coming from engine. Car did start after 30 minutes. Added oil before driving vehicle. What could be the problem?

There are just too many variables to answer your question with any hope of getting an answer that could be meaningful. If you could give us some more detail it would help out.
