1999 Honda Civic Emergency Brake Light Been On About Week Feel Holding Dragging

The Emergency Brake light has been on for about a week. I don't feel it holding or dragging when I drive. And today my check engine light came on. I don't know if the two are related???

You will have to check that the rear brakes have not over heater and are well worn down as a result of the hand brake being on, the check light will not be related, get a scan done and report the code for further assistance.
