Hello,
This issue could be due to a faulty top dead center sensor.
Over time heat and vibration from the engine can cause it to lose its internal calibration. This will cause it to send faulty data to the ECM. This can trigger a shutdown.
After the engine stall you may or may not be able to start it back up.

This issue sometimes triggers the check engine light. Is your check engine light illuminated?
