i have 99 honda accord, which lit up with engine check light and went to mechanic on this, he gave me the code as p0401, I have been usign this car since 3 years, which runs great and this car already drive 115K with no problems.
Should i need to replace the EGR value immediately or does it interrupt on highway if i go long drive using my car..?

Usually the problem is not with the EGR valve alone. You would need to clean the passage under the valve. The vl\alve might not require replacement, some cleaning might work.

It is ok to use the the car as it is not going to cause any problem but fuel consumption might increase marginally when the CEL is indicating.
