1999 ford taurus 3L 6cyl FFV.

due to a wore out belt tensioner I had the serpentine belt come off while pulling out of the driveway. in the process of coming off and whipping around and hanging up behind the harmonic balancer it messed up the crank shaft sensor and the plug on the wire harness for it. I changed out the belt tensioner assembly to correct the belt problem. then i changed out the crank sensor and plug, i now show a good sensor. the car will crank fine, has good fuel pressure and shows fire now at the plugs but will not attempt to start. any ideas?

the car shows no codes. one other thing. i inspected the wire harness when changing out the crank sensor plug end and i noticed a bare wire that runs within the harness that comes out near the spot the crank wires leave the harness. this wire is a non coated wire. is this a ground of some sort? where does it go?

if the belt screwed up the connector it probably damaged the harness as well. see if you are getting any voltage to the sensor and look for other damage around the sensor. the ground schematic shows a black ground wire attaching either to the sensor or near it not a bare wire. the xchematic for the crank sensor only shows a blue wire and gray wire. for 3.0L. going to the ford site it shows a shield for the crank sensor and bet that is it.
