1999 Ford Ranger Select 4h Selector Switch 4 Wheel Drive Light Comes On Does

When i select 4H with the selector switch for 4 wheel drive the 4H light comes on but the 4 wheel drive does not kick in. What could be causing this?

check to see if y our actuators are getting power one on tcase and one on axle.
