Ford ranger faulty transmission.

Okay I have a delema my 99 ford ranger has a transmission that is absolutely going down hill. Its an automatic, but the first gear is gone. The only way to get the truck to move is by putting it into second and them shifting it into drive. I was wondering how long the second gear would last? The truck has 200,000 miles do I don't want to repair it, but can the transmission still be rebuilt if both the fist and second gear go bad?

Yes you can rebuild it how long it will last driving like that no telling.What you have to worry bout is when a part fails in the transmision sometimes there debris that pass thru the transmission and takr out other prts of the transmission.
