Have f350 heavy duty diesel leaking fuel passenger side onto front axle found leak at small steel tube what would cause this

Leaking from 1/4 inch line like an over flow tube about 3 inches long not connected to anything

I suspect this is the fuel return line. Basically, if the engine runs but this fuel is leaking then it is the unused fuel that the engine does not need at that time.

However, this should have a hard line that goes all the way back to the tank, but it may have been replaced and a rubber line used to return the fuel to the tank.

If you can get a picture of this line and post it here that may help confirm this but here is the info below on this system and the connections for the lines.
