My mileage is suppose to illuminate when I start the truck but for about a year or so now it does not illuminate all the time when I start the truck, sometime I have to drive a few or even a few lengthy miles. Also my wipers will turn on for no reason, it has occured approximately 20 times in 6 years.

The missing illumination could be due to a failed cluster bulb.

Self activation of wiper is most likely linked to Generic Electronic Module and you should check to see if there are any trouble code.
