I have a 1999 Ford F150 4.2Liter V6. Loud banging noise on passengers side of engine on cold start or cold days. After engine warms up I hear a low ticking sound? Fuel Injector, Manifold gasket? What is making this sound? EGR code came up from Autozone. The low ticking sound started months ago and just in the past couple days the banging loud noise started.

If the noise is coming from the engine, you need to check for problems with main bearings, cam bearings, lifters.

GREAT! Not what I wanted to hear lol. Is there anything as far as additives that will help for now or am I on the road to engine failure. It seems to drive fine, no slipping or power issues

I wish I could say with 100% certainty, but without being there to hear it, I could be wrong. However, based on what you said, it sounds like a bearing in the engine has failed. If that is the case, you will be either repair your engine or looking for another one.

If you take it to a mechanic, they should be able to tell you in 2 seconds if it is a bearing noise.
