I have a 1999 ford explorer it has a transmission problem. This car when you put it in a forward gear it takes it a few seconds to go into gear it can take 30 seconds before it goes into gear then it acts ok shifts right after that every time you take it out of drive it does the same thing it does shift right in reverse.

Okay, have you checked the basics? Is the trans fluid clean and full? Also, have any warning lights come on? Has the trans been serviced over the years? Does the trans ever slip when in gear?
