Crank no start code P1383

Car will crank but will not start, code reader p1383. The car ran really rough and there was a rattle under the engine could it be the timing belt?

The P1383 code means that the engine timing is over-retarded. That means that most likely the timing belt has slipped and needs to be replaced. It could also be the VCT (variable camshaft timing) unit is not functioning properly.

It will not cause a rattling under the engine.
