Dropped the gas tank on my 99' escort. Above the tank is a small black canister that the gaslines go in to. Figure it has to be a filter of some kind. Can't find it in online parts list. Anybody know exactly what it is?

SORTA REMINDS ME OF THE "ROLL-OVER CHECK VALVE" AND "LIQUID CHECK VALVE" ON MY '77 JEEP CJ 5-----BOTH PREVENT FUEL FROM THE TANK FROM ESCAPING OUT, THRU THE VENT LINE (MY JEEP HAS BOTH)......SHOULD SOMETHING BAD HAPPEN AND FIRE ENTERS THE EQUATION!

I DON'T KNOW THAT---THAT IS WHAT "YOUR THINGEE" IS OR DOES

JUST THOUGHT I'D SLING THAT OUT THERE
