burnt wiring

My 1999 ford escort started up then made some popping noises then the headlights quit working on high beam and the radio, dashlights, heater and signal lights quit working also. It smells lie something burnt. No fuses are blown.

The only thing you can do is start checking wiring to see if there is evidence of a short. Check all fuses under the hood too. Also, if the items you mentioned have gone bad, check the voltage regulator to make sure it isn't over charging the battery.
