I have a 99 Escort and have been trying for a week to pull the passenger side axle half shaft with no luck. The manuals all say to insert a pry bar and pull.

I have even hooked chain to this thing and it won't budge.

The repair procedure calls for a slidehammer attachment whcih you should be able to rent from shops that loans out tools. If you are using a pry bar, you would need two instead of one. Prying on one side would make it slant and if you pry on opposite end of each other, the chances of getting it off would be higher.
