I have a 1999 ford escort SE with the 2.0 4cyl and automatic trans., on acceleration when I get to a certain RPM there is some strong rattling noise coming from I believe the right front area, near the tire. Its getting worse and worse. Any ideas?

Okay:

Have you checked things like heat shields to make sure nothing is loose? Take a rubber mallot and tap on the exhaust system to see if you can recreate the noise. Also, check the drive belt on that side to see if everything appears tight.
