if my oil pan got a hole in it do it mean that i threw a rode

Not necessarily. It all depends on if the hole came from the inside or something from outside hit the pan and caused the hole. If it came from the inside, it is probably a major repair.

I agree, has the damage been internal? if so this will be major, if it is a puncture from the out side in, and you stopped in time this may not be to bad, was there a noise heard at all?
