My 1999 ford contour is running with a check engine light on with a code PO171 bank 1 lean. It is a 4 cylinder engine and I can not figure out what is wrong with it. The car seems to run a lot better with out the air intake on. I have tried cleaning the MAF with MAF cleaner. Not sure what is wrong with the car. I have the had it stall on me when it slows back down to idle. The cars engine speed is all over the place and by what i have read the engine speed should stay the same.
