i added to oil to my vehicle today as it was low i looked at the stores guide book for what oil my 1999 contour use's and the guide book read "5w-20" so i bought it and added it to my car after pouring only a quart in the car i look up on the hood and there is a sticker that says "use 5w-30 motor oil only" so because i used 5w-20 will this damage or ruin my vehicle?

Wow, that's one heck of a sentence. I did figure out you put the wrong weight oil in the engine. One quart won't matter. In fact, most manufacturers specify different weight oil for different temperatures. Don't worry about that one quart, but to be safe use what's specified on the hood sticker from now on.
