I have a 96 Ford Aerostar Passenger Van, the back door pulls upwards and has two black rod looking things that hold the door up. One of them broke off of a metal think inside of the paneling of the van. I got it back on and it will stay on for a time or two of opening and shutting and comes right back off which the door is heavy so it instantly falls and hard. Do you know what this piece and the piece it is connected to is called? I need to get one and fix it and don't know what to ask for when I call a auto shop and if they even have one.

any luck yet? usually the rod is 1 piece replacable unit with connectors on each end that screw into holes in body. sometimes body holes rip out and then you need special repair job.
