1999 Dodge Stratus Heat Ac Only Works On Highest Setting Replaced Resistor 5

Heat/AC only works on highest setting.
Have replaced the resistor 5 times with brand new one.
Works right away on all settings with brand new resistor, then stops working again except on high.
What's causing resistors to go bad?

too much draw from the blower motor. either that or the connector is burned
