I have a 99 Dodge Ram 1500. Over the past couple of days while I have been coming home from work, I have noticed the temperature gage climbing to about 250F. After a few minutes the temperature returns to normal. When I get out of traffic I don't have any problems with engine temperature. I am thinking that my thermostat may be sticking. Am I right?

If it were the thermostat, road speed wouldn't have any affect. Sounds more like a problem with the fan clutch and not enough air flow at low road speeds.

You should check your water pump it can be bad. Even if it is not leaking. Take the serpentine belt off and check to see if you have play in the water pump shaft if there is then your water pump is not working correctly and should be replaced
