My durango has started cutting off randomly. Check gages and all other indicator come on and the gas hand goes to empty. oil level, battery indicator, etc all go hay wire. Ive had it check by auto zone, and a professional mechanic today. Neither could figure the problem. Mechanic suggested replacing electrical parts starting with computer but doesnt know if thats the problem

Next time this happens observe the voltage gauge on the dash, and measure the battery voltage while the engine is still running. It must be between 13.75 and 14.75 volts. If it is low, suspect the brushes in the alternator. All of the computers will act up if system voltage is low.
