shift linkage broke i need to know how to manually move linkage to get the car into drive so i can get it home, its currently at the gas station down the street.

That's really not going to work because you can't do it with the engine running and it won't start in drive.

Ive seen it done before in the car is in park right now can't I get in the car push the break and manually move the shift linkage through the gears?

As long as the brake is engaged shouldn't the linkage act as the shifter?
