1999 grand carvan 3.8L trouble starting had to push foot on gas pedal to start and then backfired when doing so. Then just died on interstate and would not start.

If the check engine light came on, have the computer scanned to identify where the problem is coming from. Most parts stores will do it for free. If the light isn't on, start by checking fuel pressure and for spark. Also, check for major vacuum leaks.
