How is the a/c control head replaced

A auto repair shop recommended replacing the a/c control head

Do you mean the AC control module? It is an integral part of the AC / Heater control panel.

Remove the screws holding the radio bezel to the inst panel. Remove wiring from rear of controler. Remove AC / heater wire control wire connector and remove unit.
