What tests did you do and what were the results? Have you measured the voltages on the two smaller wires on the alternator while the engine was running?

originally 13 without lights on and below 10 with. Changed alt same battery light then running less than 8 amps or volts with lights on. Very confusing because have had no lights flickering or anything strange.

Are those 13 and 10 volts on the two smaller wires on the back of the alternator? If they are, the input circuit is working. Measure the voltage on the fat bolted-on output wire with the engine off and with it running.
