battery and alternate new but car still doesn't turn on sometimes

What's wrong if I put a new alternator and battery in and the car starts sometimes. The light are flickering, what should I do next.

Is it cranking over and will not start or just won't crank at all/nothing when key at cranking position

Check the ground connections and battery terminals, ensure they are clean and tight.

Ensure the security system is not being triggerred.
