Battery puts out 12.5 volts had it checked altenator is good but battery light still comes on what would be the problem?

Do you habe a multimeter?If you do at idle what is the voltage at the battery cables?

It reads 12.5v still the light doesn't come on all the time and it goes off after you turn the car off and back on

So while the engine running at idle the voltage at the battery cables is only 12.5 volts?If so the alternator is not working correctly thats too low of voltage. So did you have the alternator checked outside of the car?Or installed in the car?If it was in the car it should have failed with only putting iut 12.5volts at idle.

No it reads 13.6v when running at idle

So the battery light comes on intermintly while running?If so you will have to check the voltage at the battery when the light is coming on.

Okay the altenator is out now i'm sure it completly died on me while driving last night I was told it would take an hour to get it out myself and I have to remove alot of parts to do this is it true?

I replaced the altenator (aftermaket one) on my car the battery is good I drove it for around the night I fixed it and all the next day now the light is back on can you tell me what to do?

My multi meter quit on me cant get it to work I have tried the fuse relay wire not that I have a slight sag in my surp belt like it should about an 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch still stumped? So no multi meter now what?

So the belt is nice and tight?We need a multimeter to see what its charging at and to also check the power going into the alternator and so we can make sure the alternator has a good ground.
