heating problem

i have a 1999 chevy van 5.0,the heat will not stay on.it warms up for awhile,but later it blows cold air. the temperature guage barely move. what could be the problem? please help.

most likely a bad thermostat. when you drive, any heat built up is lost by radiator due to airflow thru it. a temp solution is to block radiator with cardboard in front of it. just watch to make sure engine temp dont get too high! also make sure your cooling system is full of antifreeze as low anti freeze can cause loss of heat.
