When I try to start the suburban I hear the hum from the fuel pump and it will fire for a couple of seconds but will die after 1 or 2 seconds. I've been told I may need to bleed the fuel system but am unable to find how to do so. I have recently replaced my fuel filter too.

You dont' need to bleed the system, check the pressure with a gauge at fuel rail. Auto parts rent gauge should be 60-66 psi key on only anything lower it's probably the pump. Make sure to get the pump with the replacement harness as well.
