hi, I was hoping someone could help me. I have a 99 Chevy silverado, 1500. I had a very bad habit of running the truck on empty, and below. Last week, after driving it a day and a half on E, I ran out of gas (of course on the way to the gas station.) I used a gas can to put a couple dollars in and the truck started. I got it to the gas station and put another $20 in. I drove away from the station and got about 1/4 down the road, when I lost all power. I turned onto a side street and the truck died. I could not restart it. a friend sprayed starter fluid into..well whatever you spray it into, and it tried to turn over. The general consensus, was that I blew the fuel pump from running on E all the time. I had it towed home, and the 'mechanic' brother of my neighbor said he would change the fuel pump for me (he is actually experienced in
ABS) Anyway, the pump was replaced, with a used one, that came out that same day, of a recently running vehicle. The problem is that the pump won't kick on so no fuel is getting out of the tank. He assumes it is electrical, says all fuses are intact, and thinks it might be a 'wiring' problem. Seeing as I lost all power before breaking down, I guess this could be true. However, he has no clue, at all, as to how to find out what wires need to be checked or how to proceed. Could someone please, maybe give me a clue as how to proceed.

Thank you,
Jen M

The circuit is straightforward. Fuel pump relay is computer controlled, (Dark Green/White).
