1999 Chevrolet Silverado fuel line replacement

i am replacing the steel line from tank to fuel filter, the old metal line has a ridge near the end where the quick connect is, (tank end), the piece of metal tubing i got to replace it does not have this ridge, do you know if it matters?

if you don't have that ridge you can't hook up your fuel filter or any quick disconnect fittings
