Can broken POWER BRAKE BOOSTER on Chevy Lumina cause turn off of a car?

when i press on brakes i hear some nose like air escaping
and i have to press very hard, and even though car doesn't stop right away

also my car turns off by itself, when i park it and few times even while driving.

The brake booster is leaking have it checked and tested
