Overheating problems

My corvette over heats quickly at high speeds above 45 MPH. Over heats at 70 MPH within 2 miles. My interior display of outside temperature quickly goes to 140 degree F and the A/C goes hot air. Actually my exterior temperature display doesn't seem to be working correct; show much higher temp than what is actually the ambient temp.

Hello,

An engine can overheat due to a thermostat that is stuck closed, Bad radiator, faulty cooling fan, low coolant, restriction in the cooling system, bad water pump.
Also on these C5 corvettes it can over heat if the air dam that is located just under the front bumper is damaged or broken off.
It is the black plastic piece that you see hanging under the front bumper. This piece can get scrapped off on a speed bump or other road imperfections.
It is designed to direct air to the radiator to cool the engine. If that piece is broken off then the air will not be able to reach the radiator as designed and that can make the vehicle over heat.

Make sure that air dam is intact. If broken you will have to get a replacement for it.
