1999 Chevrolet Cavalier Regarding Chevy Automatic Transmission Into Park

Regarding my 1999 chevy cavalier automatic transmission not going into park and reverse, will it cause major damage to the actual transmission if I have to drive for a few days or maybe a couple of weeks before I get the problem fixed? The transmission will go into drive and the car will start right up in neutral and run very well. Maybe I will need to drive the car to work for a few days before I can get a repair. I think what I need is a new linkage cable. Will the park and reverse problem affect the transmission when the car is going down the road?

no it will do ok, soundsl ike a cable bad or shift interlock problem get it checked prior to replacing any parts. cable may be out of adjustment as well
