idler tensioner pully asembly

99 cav 2.2 engine bolt going through idler tensioner asembly about 3 inches long only have 1 inch clearance to back it out have tried jacking car but still not enough clearance whats up

Is it hitting the frame? Are you able to twist it in a direction that will allow it to come out? I've always been able to get them out with persuation. make sure the tensionier isn't already loose and moveable with the bolt in place.

Put a floor jack under the engine oil pan with a block of wood between the jack and oil pan support the engine with the jack.Remove the upper mount and jack the engine up that should give you the clearance you need.
